A Journey of Discovery, Joy and Growth.
My miracle landing, that’s how I can describe my journey to Project Canaan (PC). As I sit here writing I feel like all the routes I have traveled in the past were leading me to this special place..
My “meet-cute” first experience of PC was on the 23rd of September 2024. The dusty road leading to PC put a lot of thoughts in my head; I didn’t know what was waiting for me. The minute I stepped into the place I had an indescribable, overwhelming feeling of joy. I remember thinking, “This must have been the same feeling the children of Israel felt when reaching Canaan.” My heart was home. The warm welcome from all the staff, the vibrant colours of the school and the tiny but powerful noises of the children all combined to create an atmosphere that was welcoming and inspiring.

The 4th of November, 2024, was my 50th birthday. I celebrated it at Project Canaan Academy (PCA). In assembly I had goose bumps when Paul started a song and all the kids sang along. “I WAS HOME.” I felt inner joy. It was a different kind of joy, my childhood innocent kind of happiness; something I have forgotten over the years. I remember looking up and saying to The Lord, “This is on you, you did this without my knowledge, you didn’t even give me a sign that you at work.” I silently recited Psalms 23 verse 6, “surely Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”

My academic journey as the Principal of PCA started on the 6th of January. I am filled with a sense of excitement, gratitude and humbleness. I thank The Lord daily for such an opportunity. Over the past two months I had the privilege of getting to know all the students and staff. I am impressed by their dedication, passion and commitment to education.
As a school we are currently navigating the implementing of a new curriculum. Our staff and learners are committed to this endeavour, and working diligently to embrace the transition.
As we commenced the academic year, we were thoroughly prepared to welcome our students. Everything was in place, from essential stationery to textbooks, ensuring a seamless start to the year.

School started on the 13th of January for teachers. That week was used for staff development and getting ready for our new academic year. Students joined on the 22nd of January.
Our enrollment for 2025 is 339 from Pre-primary to grade 7.
We successfully conducted our baseline assessments, which provided valuable insights into our students’ starting point.
Starting a new curriculum can be challenging for both teachers and learners but over the past two months we’ve made sure that teachers are equipped with all the necessary support and skills. The school has been operating smoothly with all areas running efficiently.

For extracurricular, we created clubs (Spelling BEE club, Debate club, Choir, soccer and Media club). Most kids are excited and have joined these clubs.
As I look in the future, I am excited to see what the next chapter holds for PCA. I am committed to fulfill God’s purpose for bringing me to this amazing place. I am committed to building on the strong foundation that has been laid before me, to innovate, mentor and ensure that every student receives the best possible education.
As I conclude I would like to forward my gratitude to Ian and Janine Maxwell who had made this new adventure easy and doable and for giving me daily support and advice, the students who have embraced and easily bonded with me, the teachers who are welcoming and dedicated, and the PC board of directors. I am honoured to be part of this community.
Praise is to The Lord Jesus for his miracles and Mercies and Favour.
