Road Maintenance program

A new training program in the area of road maintenance.

The Need

If you’ve taken the trip to Project Canaan, you’ll understand what a huge blessing smoother roads would be!

As part of our overall sustainability, creating the resources to maintain the existing road system at Project Canaan on a consistent basis would be a tremendous advantage. From less wear and tear on our vehicles and construction equipment, to increased safety for children and pedestrians, the benefits are numerous.

Supporting us in this endeavor is our partner, Mercy Tech Mission. They will provide the training and technical support for our new “Road Crew” and help steward the investment into equipment, training and road maintenance.

The Benefits

Less wear and tear on mission and staff vehicles (suspension and tire failure is a major issue seen at the Lusito shop).

Increased safety of people using the roads, including the children and other pedestrians.

The opportunity to create walking paths for the children and staff that are safe and mud-free.

The capacity to produce marketable products such as sand, topsoil, rocks of various sizes, and landscape materials.

The ability to produce the foundation and road bed materials on-site for future building sites.

A more professional look and experience as visitors enter the property to access the different facets of Project Canaan.

The potential to hire out and/or donate road building and maintenance services to local farmers or even for government road upkeep.

Another opportunity for training local Swazis to become reliable income earners for their families.
