HOPE LIVES HERE is a comprehensive look behind the scenes of Project Canaan: A Place of HOPE, a development project and children’s home that Janine and her husband Ian are building in Africa.
This book is the heartfelt and often heart-wrenching story of their journey and path toward growing promising futures for hundreds of orphaned or abandoned children.
Maxwell breaks down details of their Hunger, Orphans, Poverty, Education initiatives designed to bring HOPE to the kingdom of Eswatini, and much more. Joys and successes are equally shared alongside lows and betrayals.
Raised in Matheson, Ontario, Janine Maxwell founded ONYX Marketing Group in North York at age 24, and grew her business over a 16- year period to become one of Canada’s largest marketing firms. In 2005, she left it all behind to serve Africa’s children orphaned by starvation, poverty, abuse, and the AIDS pandemic.
Janine and her husband, Ian (raised in Nepean, Ontario), are the co-founders of Heart for Africa (Canada), which focuses on bringing HOPE to the Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) in the areas of Hunger, Orphans, Poverty and Education.
Interested in interviewing Janine about HOPE LIVES HERE or having her speak at your next event? Reach out! Janine is a sought-after speaker and travels extensively to speak the truth about orphans in Africa. She has the unique ability to empower others to see Africa through her eyes.
Janine’s first book dives into her story of owning one of the largest marketing companies in Canada that boasted a blue chip client list. Then on 9/11 she found herself trapped in New York City when all transportation in and out of the city stopped.
The world-changing events of that day became the catalyst that sent her to the darkest parts of Africa in her search for the meaning of life. Her story is brutally honest and will take you straight to the heart of the issue of Africa’s great need.
Raw in style and truth, Janine’s second book digs deeper into the who, what, why, and how of the AIDS pandemic and the plight of millions of orphans left in its wake. Is It Okay With You? challenges each of us to make a choice and then take action.
While it is hard to read about children living in abject poverty and abuse, Janine challenges us to not wallow in our own sadness and apathy, but rather to be moved to action and do something.
