At the age of 24, Janine Maxwell founded what would become one of the most successful marketing companies in Canada. On 9/11 she found herself a part of thousands fleeing New York City. This life-changing event sent Janine on a search for the meaning of life. Her journey took her to Africa where she encountered the AIDS pandemic, hunger and disease. Together, Janine and her husband, Ian, co-founded Heart for Africa.
In 2009, the non-profit purchased 2,500-acres of land and called it Project Canaan in Eswatini, Africa. In 2012, Ian and Janine moved to Project Canaan where they have lived since sharing HOPE throughout the country. They are now the parents of 371 Swazi children.
