El Rofi Medical Center

The El Rofi Medical Centre officially opened on July 16th, 2015 with Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati LaMbikiza in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony. This Medical Centre provides Primary Care to all of the children living at Project Canaan as well as all employees who work on the property.

It also provides education, testing and counseling for HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and family planning. Our 3-chair Dental Suite, is used for visiting/volunteer dentists. The total cost to run the clinic each month is approximately $5,000 US and it is only partly subsidized by the patients who are mostly making minimum wage.

We need partners who will help us to continue to provide high quality care. Please consider making a donation or becoming a monthly contributer to the El Rofi Medical Center to enable us to meet these expenses. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and we thank you.

Healthcare Challenges in Africa

In 2005, it was estimated that over 15 million children were orphaned by HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa and that by 2010 that number would climb to 40 million children. Over half of the population in Eswatini today are orphans or vulnerable chlidren, and many of them have suffered due to losses caused by HIV/AIDS.

This epidemic has wiped out much of an entire generation in Africa and has left countless babies and grandparents to suffer. As a result of poverty and high unemployment, many cannot access or afford healthcare. This has resulted in an increase in preventable diseases, unplanned pregnancies, and baby dumping simply because parents are unable to care for their children.

How to Improve Healthcare in Africa

We believe that by providing education, employment, and self-sustaining food sources to those in Eswatini, Africa we can improve the future of the country and its healthcare.

At Project Canaan, we provide primary medical care for each of our children as well as the adults living here. We also provide education on HIV/AIDS and general healthcare to break the cycle and improve health nationwide.
